Professor Nicholas Ossei-Gerning has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2024 King’s New Years Honours List, KAmo writes.
The OBE is for services to the field of interventional cardiology in Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales.
He works as a professor of cardiology St Joseph’s Hospital, Cardiff, and is also a course co-director of the Africa PCR Conference. His work includes working on the inhibitors angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE).
ACE plays an important role in the control of blood pressure. He also describes himself on X (Twitter) as having a special interest in erectile dysfunction and a mission to improve healthcare in Ghana.
Asara Issifu is an independent family group conference coordinator at the London Borough of Camden.
She received an MBE for services to children and families, and to the community in the London Borough of Camden.
Family group conferences help to empower families to take responsibility and create action plans that promote the best possible outcomes for the individuals in need of support.
Asara has facilitated many hundreds of them throughout her career. Before working in Camden, she gained experience working in Greenwich.
