‘Our Day’ by Akua Abedi-Boafo, is a coming of age film short set in Accra, that will feature in this year’s London International Pan-African Film Festival (London PAFF) in October. ‘
'Our Day’, produced by Akua's company AAB Productions, is one of 43 feature and narrative films in this year’s 8-day October lineup in West Norwood, London. London PAFF is an annual film event that celebrates Pan-African films produced in Africa and the Diaspora.
The festival categories are: narrative feature film, narrative short film, documentary feature film, animation and TV & web series.
Another short feature with a Ghanaian is 'To End All Spells'. Like 'Our Day', this film will screen on 20 October and is a 15-minute narrative short film by Nana Kwabena and Zak Cedarholm, (USA) 2024.
Here's a synopsis:
Amidst her village nearing the brink of extinction, an unforgiving desert warrior fights to protect the legacy of Palve, a sacred psychedelic fruit that connects its indigenous to the spiritual realm. The only way to experience the effects of this scarce and forbidden hallucinogenic is through the remaining villagers greatest form of protection; their hair.
